Christine Borger

Principal Research Associate

Overview

Christine Borger, PhD, is a senior economist and Principal Research Associate with nearly 20 years of analytical experience. As Principal Investigator and and co-Project Director for the Infant Toddler Feeding Practices Study-2 (ITFPS-2)—an ongoing longitudinal study of feeding practices, health behaviors, and growth outcomes of children from birth through age 9, funded by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS)–Borger leads all aspects of the study, with particular focus on planning and directing quantitative analyses and conveying findings through written materials and presentations. Analyses include multivariate regression modeling, application of statistical tests to analyze disparities and differences across subpopulations, and development of new metrics to assess factors independently associated with duration of WIC participation.

Borger is accomplished in factor analysis and multivariable analyses, including regression analysis (multinomial, logit, Tobit, Poisson, quantile, and growth models), hierarchal linear modeling, Cox proportional hazard models, and simultaneous equations. She employs appropriate techniques to assess complex relationships between WIC participant experience, maternal feeding practices, child dietary intake, and child health outcomes. She is skilled in working with large, complex survey and administrative datasets. Borger has co-authored several articles published in distinguished peer-reviewed journals and presented on WIC ITFPS-2 methodologies and findings.
